The workout: an exciting, heart-pumping routine for some, a literal nightmare for others.
And of course, everyone's routine is different, whether you prefer long runs or quick sprints, heavy lifting or yoga — but inevitably, incorporating proper exercise into your day-to-day activities only contributes to an overall healthier lifestyle.
So, in a new video for BuzzFeed, three participants try working out bright and early, five days in a row, for different reasons: Matt Kiebus wants to improve "happiness and health," Grace Spelman's looking to "improve [her] mood/skin/energy," and Joanna Borns wants to "exercise more," according to the video's introduction.
And while they all have good intentions, the video takes a pretty hilarious turn as Kiebus, Spelman, and Borns try to make it through miserable morning workouts and get to work on time.
"Would it be weird or bad if I put cold brew coffee in my water bottle?"
"I don't feel great. I'm showing up increasingly later to work over the course of the week and I already show up late to begin with."
At the end of the week, the participants conclude that adjusting their regular workouts to morning ones was hard, and they might not do it again. However, there were some plus sides: waking up did get easier, breakfast finally had its moment, and, you know, that good health stuff.
Regardless of how you workout, try mixing up your usual routines to keep things interesting. Trade in a gym session for a hike with a friend, take a new class at a studio, or take your dog for a run.
In the long-term, you'll be glad you did.
