Bride Receives A Wedding Gift That Her Parents Kept A Secret For More Than 20 Years

'Being adopted, I wanted her to know how much I loved her.'

People often say it's not the gift, but the thought that counts.

We think there might not actually be a more beautiful example to illustrate this saying than the story of the Blackledge family. Just listen to it ...

Sherry and Craig Blackledge were unable to have kids on their own, so they adopted Brooke and her brother Brian when they were little babies.

This March, Brooke married her fiancé, Tyler Zugg. The special day was filmed by a videographer team.

Many touching moments were captured on tape, but one of them particularly stood out ...

It involved the opening of a present Brooke's mom kept a secret for more than 20 years.

When Brooke was only 18 months old, her parents Sherry and Craig wrote their daughter a heartfelt letter that she would open on her wedding day.

Excerpts from the letter read: 'We just want you to know how very much love and happiness you have brought to us. You have made us a truly great family.'

To make the gift even more special, Sherry had the letter printed onto a piece of her own wedding gown.

'Being adopted, I wanted her to know how much I loved her. And I thought it would be extremely precious when she opened it up and read it on her wedding day,' Brooke's mom says in the video.
