James Corden is hosting the Tony Awards this Sunday on CBS. To prepare, he took his popular Carpool Karaoke segment to the streets of New York City and belted out a few Broadway hits with the stars of the stage. This is one no theater fan should miss.
The fun starts when Hamilton star Lin-Manuel Miranda hops into the passenger seat and joins James in performing a couple of tracks from the show. James wastes no time giving Daveed Diggs a run for his money in the fast rapping department.
The pair eventually pick up a few extra carpool buddies to ride in the backseat. First comes Audra McDonald, then Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Jane Krakowski. In the words of Lin-Manuel Miranda, "Well, now we got a sing-along."
The first song on the program for the five of them is "Seasons of Love" from Rent. James has to stop the music and laugh at the group's collective "aww" upon hearing the first few notes.
The grand finale involves a rousing rendition of "One Day More" from Les Misérables. They each take a different part to create an amazing ensemble. There's a very good chance it'll give you chills. Or, at the very least, a burning desire to see a Broadway show.
