That's why people at BBC Earth Unplugged decided to make an awareness video and shows you exactly what happens to the human body in freezing cold weather.
Earth Unplugged's Oli Martin rose to the occasion and volunteered to be lab rat in this nipping experiment.
Using a thermal imaging camera, they shot Martin undressing and exposing his body to the "blistering cold of the Scottish highlands."
The whole point of it is to show how incredibly quickly the human body loses heat and risks hypothermia, which can be deadly in such conditions.
