5 Red-Inspired Looks To Raise Awareness For National Blood Donor Month

Get donating.

"You don't need a special reason to give blood," The American Red Cross says. "You just need your own reason."

According to the organization, one pint of blood can save up to three lives, and over the years, such donations have helped millions, including those who have been in accidents, cancer patients, and others in need.

Moreover, January is National Blood Donor Month, and we turned to the color red as a reminder to donate, and a way to maintain awareness for the cause, in the upcoming months.

That said, we've created five red-inspired looks that are sure to inspire both you and those around you. Plus, each look is accompanied by an important blood-related fact sourced by the Red Cross.

1. Red suede.

We love the idea of a red suede mini skirt with a chunky cream sweater. Finish this look with simple booties and a pair of earrings, and you're good to go.

Did you know? "Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood."

2. The suit pant.

A bright red suit pant is a bold, gorgeous choice for a red-inspired look. Add a plain black top with a geometric neck scarf and, of course, a red lip.

Did you know? "Although an estimated 38 percent of the U.S. population is eligible to donate, less than 10 percent actually do each year."

3. Little red dress.

In an effort to raise awareness this month, trade in your little black dress for a little red dress and complete the look with a light pink moto jacket and sneakers.

Did you know? "The average adult has about 10 pints of blood in his body. Roughly one pint is given during a donation."

4. Red and casual.

For a casual, red look, pair a red tee with a boyfriend jean and some red accessories.

Did you know? "The number one reason donors say they give blood is because they 'want to help others.' "

5. Athletic wear.

Heading to the gym? Stay fit in this red-filled look, complete with sport leggings, killer red sneakers, and a reusable water bottle — and you're ready to go.

Did you know? "Approximately 41,000 blood donations are needed every day."

Lastly, to become a donor, check out the Red Cross' eligibility requirements and get more information on the donation process. You can also find a blood bank near you by clicking here.

And don't forget to rock your red (and tell people why!) this month and for months to come, because every day is a good day to donate.
