What London's Black Lives Matter Activists Want To Tell Their American Counterparts

"Injustices happen every single day and we have to show that it's not OK."

The past week has left many Americans grappling with questions about their nation's values and character. And the rest of the world looks on — in horror, fear, confusion and sadness — as they watch events unfold here in the States.

Shortly after the back-to-back shootings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, Black Lives Matter activists in London took to the streets to spread the message on their side of the world. One BuzzFeed video captured the impassioned, peaceful demonstrations and asked protestors what they wanted their American counterparts to know. 

Many expressed solidarity with African Americans.

As well as their outrage at the systemic targeting of black men that they see taking place stateside.

While it can be difficult to truly grasp the complexities of the racial, political and cultural issues at hand from a distance, the Black Lives Matter movement at home has clearly made an impact on our neighbors across the Atlantic.
