For the first time ever, Barbie will no longer be a quiet companion for kids.
Mattel unveiled its "Hello Barbie," which will be able to talk using Wi-Fi and Toy Talk, a speech recognition app.
The idea is that Barbie will now be able to do everything a child has ever dreamed of, like play games, hold a conversation and even remember what the child likes.
In the video below, a Mattel spokesperson describes the technology behind the new doll and explains why the company saw a need for an interactive Barbie.
"The number one request we hear from girls around the world is that they want to have a conversation with Barbie," says the spokesperson. "Now, for the first time ever, Barbie can have a two-way conversation."
The doll will be available this fall for $74.99.
