You're probably wondering why someone would put a baby in a plastic tube.
Don't be alarmed. We assure you, no harm comes to the baby.
The baby is in the tube — called a Pigg-O-Stat — to get an X-ray.
Don't worry, they don't get left behind.
Here's how it works.
Babies aren't exactly known for their patience with tedious procedures.
The Pigg-O-Stat keeps the baby still and in the proper position long enough to get some x-rays. The machine is adjustable for children of various ages and sizes and the child is actually seated, not suspended as the picture might suggest.
This way, parents and medical personnel don't run the risk of radiation exposure when trying to hold the baby still.
