About a year ago, a heartwarming video entitled "Mother's First Meeting" revealed the moment when a baby's cries woke the baby's mother from a coma.
Her husband, Jeremy Cawley, told the publication, "The doctors had done all they could and it was clear, they absolutely thought they were losing her at this point."
But when Jeremy held their baby against his wife's chest, something amazing happened...
Their baby, named Rylan, let out a cry. With that came a spike on the monitor.
"We could see a spike in her vitals on the monitor. We knew that somewhere in there she was hearing her baby. Rylan saved her mom's life," Ashley Manus, a nurse at the hospital, added in the article for People.
A week later, Shelly recovered, and met her daughter.
How is the family doing now?
In reflection of last year, Shelly posted a beautiful photo to Facebook with the caption:
As the night comes to a close, I reflect on my day and how different it was than at the same time a year ago. What a difference a year makes! Last year I was fighting for my life, and this year I have a 1 year old who is thriving, and I am back in nursing school doing what I love. Satan tried to take me down, but thanks to our mighty God and all of you amazing prayer warriors, what could have been an end to my life has just been a bump in the road on my journey! Can't wait to discover what God has planned for my life, and to just enjoy the ride on the way there!
With that post, Shelly received a ton of kind comments from supporters — some of which didn't even know her.
"I know you don't know me but I prayed hard for you and so enjoyed seeing your story unfold thru your husband's posts. It is so heartwarming to see you doing so well. You and your family are an inspiration to this entire community..." one woman writes.
"Lots of prayers were said. So good to see you both thriving and living a happy life!" another commenter adds.
