It has been estimated that as much as 1 percent of the world's population may be asexual. As a series of heartfelt posts on Whisper reveal, though the experience of being asexual isn't uncommon, it's not always perfectly understood.
And although dating is inherently a complicated, messy enterprise, dating without sexual attraction poses its own unique set of obstacles. Some people might even be afraid to tell their partners that they are asexual.
These Whisper confessions prove that though there has been tremendous movement in promoting understanding of asexuality, more work needs to be done to encourage openness and tolerance.
