These Statues Look Just Like Humans, But You'll Never Guess What They Really Are

This is going to surprise you.

If you bumped into one of these figures at a museum, you'd absolutely say, "excuse me." They possess so many physical qualities of real human beings — they're even anatomically accurate.

From their undeniably life-like posture to the way their clothing seems to fall on their bodies, every detail of the human form is accounted for.

There's even an element of humanity. Many of these statues have their backs turned to us like we're interrupting them in the middle of a moment.

Peter Demetz is the Italian artist responsible for these sculptures, and there's something remarkable and familiar about the authenticity of his art.

And yet, these people are made from wood.
