Ariana Grande Just Got Invited To A Naval Academy Formal... By Lip Sync

Officers and gentlemen.

Two second class Naval Academy midshipmen created this sincere invitation to singer Ariana Grande.

Second class midshipmen (the Naval Academy's equivalent of college juniors) Alex Monteith and Navy basketball guard Tilman Dunbar III of the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland created this video last October to invite Ariana Grande to their upcoming ring dance this May.

"What," you may ask, "is a ring dance?"

Every year, second-class (don't forget, that means junior year) midshipmen at the Naval Academy design their class ring. This started in 1869 and, since then, has become one of the most anticipated and cherished parts of the Naval Academy's traditions.

In their third year, midshipmen receive their rings in a solemn ceremony where each is blessed by a chaplain in a bowl containing water from each of the seven seas, symbolically wedding them to the Navy.

The ring dance is held at the end of their third year. At this formal dance, midshipmen may wear their class rings for the first time. It's a major rite of passage for the young officers-to-be.

These midshipmen had the guts to ask Ariana Grande to this year's ring dance.

And, let's face it, they went about with the style, grace, and panache becoming of American sailors, lip syncing Ariana Grande and The Weeknd's "Love Me Harder" before giving her a sincere invitation to this year's ring dance to be held on May 16, 2015 at the Naval Academy's Dahlgren Hall in Annapolis, Maryland.

Well-played, guys.
