'American Ultra's' Red Band Trailer Reunites Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart For Stoner-Comedy Greatness

"There's nothing more dangerous than a stoned cold killer."

America might gain a new, improbable action hero this summer. As the new red band trailer for "American Ultra" shows, Jesse Eisenberg's unlikely hero, Mike, will have to battle evil, nonspecific henchmen, a government agent played by Topher Grace, and a serious case of the munchies in the stoner-action-comedy. (Surprisingly, that's actually a pretty popular genre.)

From the trailer, which was released May 28, we're able to uncover a few key facts about the movie's plot: Mike is your typical chill bro, but, in a "Bourne Identity"-like twist, he's been programmed to kill on command. Only he doesn't know that, until one night some unsavory characters turn up at the convenience store where he works, and he goes into full secret agent mode. "American Ultra" reunites Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart, who previously worked together in 2009's "Adventureland," another pot-infused dramedy. Grace most recently appeared in last year's "Interstellar." In addition, the film also features Connie Britton and John Leguizamo in smaller, though no less hilarious, roles. The trailer gets a jolt of energy from its soundtrack, the David Guetta song "Hey Mama," featuring Nicki Minaj, Bebe Rexha and Afrojack.

"American Ultra" looks like a seriously fun, and funny, summer flick. It will open Aug. 21.
