Gymnast Aly Raisman Just Shared An Empowering Message Of Body Positivity On Instagram

"Be proud of your body."

We love the continued positivity of the Olympic women's gymnastics team when it comes to body image. Aly Raisman recently tweeted about her experience of being body shamed at the airport, and this week she took to Instagram to share a powerful message with fans about loving themselves.

"Wear whatever makes you feel happy and confident. Don't EVER let anyone tell you how you should or shouldn't dress," she wrote on Monday, alongside a photo of herself in a bathing suit. "We are all entitled to wear what we want. Females do not have to dress modest to be respected."

Raisman, who posed with her teammate Simone Biles for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue earlier this year, continued by telling her followers, "Be proud of your body. It's never about the number on the scale it's about the way you feel. You are all unique and beautiful in your own way. No one is perfect. AND no matter who you are, male or female, we all have those days of insecurity. We are all human."

Yes, even a gold medal-winning gymnast.

The 23-year-old reminded fans to be kind, writing, "Everyone's story is important. EVERYONE. You never know what someone is going through." She added the hashtags #IGotItFromMyMomma and #GIRLPOWER.

Fellow gymnast Simone Biles shared her own message of body confidence late last year, responding to criticism on Twitter by stating simply, "You all can judge my body all you want, but at the end of the day it's MY body. I love it & I'm comfortable in my skin."

It's clear these women are champions in more ways than one.
