This 8-Year-Old And His Mom Create 'Blessed Bags' To Help The Homeless And Their Dogs

"He wanted to help by providing them with necessities."

Since the time Alexander Jackson (AJ) was 6 years old, he couldn't pass by a homeless person without making his mom, Tamara Edwards, stop. And it didn't matter if she was driving or not.

Edwards explained to A Plus via email that this compassion for the homeless eventually led AJ to create AJ's Blessed Bags, bags filled with necessities that he distributes to the homeless people in his community in Oakland, California.

Now AJ is 8 years old, and he's working to make his business really take off.

"AJ feels bad when he sees people on the street because they don't have any food or shelter, so he wanted to help by providing them with necessities," Edwards explained to A Plus. "He said, 'I wish I could give [the people who are homeless] a bag with three snacks (for breakfast lunch and dinner), toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, soap and dog food.'"

AJ's mom added, "AJ includes food for homeless dogs in his Blessed Bags because he has an extreme love for dogs."

They also created a GoFundMe page for the Blessed Bags to help raise funds so they can buy more necessities.

And it has more than doubled its original goal of $1,000.
