Walking around wearing trash (quite literally) doesn't sound very chic, but you might want to reconsider after seeing this.
Because it could actually be the new trendy thing.
The preference for sustainable materials in the fashion industry has been rising steadily over the years. Now, German sportswear giant Adidas in collaboration with Parley for the Oceans, an organization aiming to stop the pollution of the oceans, has just released a prototype of sneakers that are made from... ocean waste.
Yep. Actual ocean waste.
Adidas later used these nets as yarns and filaments for the upper shoe.
And the final result is pretty rad. Take a look for yourself.
Trendy AND sustainable.
"Our objective is to boost public awareness and to inspire new collaborations that can contribute to protect and preserve the oceans," Cyrill Gutsch of Parley for The Oceans said. "We are extremely proud that adidas is joining us in this mission and is putting its creative force behind this partnership to show that it is possible to turn ocean plastic into something cool."
