Adele is back with a new video for her catchy single, "Send My Love (To Your New Lover)."
Released during the Billboard Music Awards — where she picked up five awards, including Top Female Artist — the new video is set against a simple black backdrop.
While it has an up-tempo beat, the song still addresses breakups and how Adele is trying to move on.
Director Patrick Daughters told Entertainment Weekly, "This is just her being very physically expressive in a way that people aren't used to seeing."
The video, as mentioned, is very minimalist with not much going on besides the many layers of Adele expressing different emotions.
Daughters further elaborated about the lack of editing, explaining that was all part of the process and idea.
He said, "In a way, as you watch the video many times, you start to make your own edits because you focus on different layers of her performance ... there's a lot of different versions of this video to see, but they're all there at the same time."
The dress, which Adele picked out, adds to the emotions — flowing and a adding a sense of lightness after letting go.
