As any Game of Thrones fan can tell you, Gregor Clegane, more commonly known as The Mountain, is a pretty bad dude.
Though The Mountain has been played by three different actors, he is currently portrayed by Hafthor Bjornsson, a 419 pound 26-year-old who was named The World's Strongest Man. Incredible casting, to be sure.
(Warning, spoilers ahead)
The character is about as universally-disliked as Joffrey Baratheon (though not nearly as viscerally), because he's a huge, unstoppable beast who murders and rapes his way around Westeros, with zero redeeming qualities.
Though his list of victims is numerous, the most heartbreaking came from the fight between The Mountain and Prince Oberyn, The Red Viper of Dorne, during Tyrion Lannister's trial by combat.
Sadly, Oberyn met one of the most gruesome deaths ever depicted on the show, and Westeros lost one of its most genuine and likable dignitaries.
The Mountain has faced many challengers on Game of Thrones who have tried to take him out using various weapons, fighting techniques, and even poisons. None have prevailed.
But what happens when an opponent wants to arm wrestle?
Recently, Bjornsson challenged two-time World Armwrestling League heavyweight champion Devon Larratt to a friendly competition.
It went down a bit differently than we thought it would:
Despite a nearly 200 pound difference, Larratt emerges victorious and destroys The Mountain before Arya Stark gets the chance. In a contest using only one arm, a man who was not Jaime Lannister came out on top.
In all seriousness, it's important (and healthy) to separate fictional characters from the actors who brilliantly portray them. Bjornsson was an excellent sport about the entire thing, and was nothing but smiles as he held up Larratt's arm to honor his victory.
We'll never forget you, Oberyn.
