Whether it be an expertly crafted dance set to a popular jam or some goofy moves performed by a bunch of regular dads, the Internet can't seem to get enough dance videos. Now, brands are catching on to the trend.
Choreographer, dancer and filmmaker Blanca Li joined Christian Louboutin in creating a video that uses dance to showcase the brand's new fall 2016 collection. The move emphasizes the idea that fashion isn't just about getting dressed. Instead, it's a form of artistic expression.
The short film, titled "La Répétition" brings us to a dance studio where a group of talented men and women are rehearsing an intense dance number taught by Li. Every character is decked out in a pair of iconic red-bottomed shoes from Christian Louboutin's fall 2016 collection. Women effortlessly perform the intense choreography in platform heels and sexy studded stilettos. The men, on the other hand, are adorned in spiky shoes and colorful sneakers.
By the end of the video, one of the men passes out after one too many twirls much to Li's frustration. Luckily, one of the women who had no problem keeping up with the choreography in her high heels is there to give him mouth-to-mouth, which really just looks like a peck on the lips.
The storyline of the short film may surround the dancers, but the shoes truly shine through. Having the shoe line showcased in a choreographed music video reminds us all that fashion truly is an art form we can all take part in.
