25 Movies You Must See Before You Die

A life-changing list.

Great films, like all other forms of art, have the power to change lives.

These movies shine a light on some aspect of humanity — including loss, injustice and love — and cause us to see our own lives differently. Our minds are suspended in disbelief as we see things from perspectives we never before imagined. They can make us uncomfortable by forcing us to confront our own biases or make us yearn to rectify some atrocity. At times, great movies can be emotional roller coasters, to be sure, but our lives are hopefully improved by their influence.

Making a list of 25 of the greatest movies that spans so many decades and genres is no easy task; each addition was thoughtfully added based on its ability to entertain as well as convey an important message.
