This Year's Razzie Nominations Tell Us What Movies Had A Rough Go In 2015

"Fifty Shades of Grey" didn't do so well (or technically, it did).

Getting a Razzie Award isn't necessarily something to be proud of, given that it's the exact opposite of awards like the Golden Globes or Oscars. Generally held every year the night before the latter, the Razzies celebrate the very worst in cinematic achievement over the previous year. It's somewhat sad to be involved, but also very much a joke in its 36th year, to the point where well-known celebrities such as Sandra Bullock have actually shown up in person to accept their awards.

This year, the focus is on Fifty Shades of Grey, which tied with Pixels, Jupiter Ascending, and Paul Blart Mall Cop 2 for six nominations. There are only 10 categories, so it's a pretty poor showing for all four. Interestingly enough, there's a "Redeemer Award" given to an actor, writer, or director that actually finds a fair amount of respect and success with projects made after receiving a Razzie. So good luck to those nominees and sorry to the others — better luck not being a part of this charade next year. It's a good thing they all have a solid sense of humor about it.
