There are certain things people hold close to themselves, telling either only their most intimate of friends or, in many cases, no one at all. In the case of parents who withhold certain truths from their children, it might be a way of preserving their own inner lives as adults, or it can simply be an attempt to protect their kids from some of the harsher realities of the world for as long as they can.
Children lie or withhold the truth from their parents for different reasons. In the following selection of confessions made via the Whisper App, we get a glimpse into just a few of their motivations for withholding the truth. From a need to define oneself as an adult on one's own terms, to a fear of being judged or misunderstood, to an attempt to protect their parents from worrying about them, kids choose to lie for a range of reasons that are often understandable and relatable.
Take a look for yourself.
