There are two popular ideas that prevail throughout cultures around the world that imagine grandmothers as either demure, "little old ladies" who sometimes need our help in navigating the modern world or stately matriarchs, not unlike Downton Abbey's Dowager Countess.
Those images go a long way in forming our expectations of grandmotherly behavior. So far, in fact, that we find something really, really interesting about grandmothers who joyously buck existing stereotypes, whether it be by wearing t-shirts with the logos of Heavy Metal bands or go crazy while trying out the latest in virtual reality tech.

Some of these confessions go way beyond anything that a parent might say.
