Hilarious Tumblr Kind Of Proves That IKEA Existed Centuries Back

"Tips and tricks to redecorate your house, all from before 1650."

Love it or hate it, IKEA is here to stay.

As of 2008, IKEA is considered to be the world's largest furniture retailer with a history dating back to 1943, when 17-year-old Ingvar Kamprad thought of his multimillion-dollar idea sitting at his uncle's kitchen table.

Or did he?

New York-based creative Cecilia Azcarate created a series of hilarious reimagined paintings, merging IKEA products with 16th century artworks.

Her project, titled IKEA b4-XVI, features "tips and tricks to redecorate your house, all from before 1650."

Here you can see famous IKEA products meeting their doppelgangers from centuries past. This particular dish towel dates back to 1375.

Some of them are really uncanny.

Azcarate says she really loves old art, but also spends a lot of time looking at modern stuff and that's what inspired the project.

You can follow Azcarate on Tumblr or visit her website to see more of her incredible work.
