It's easy to become cynical about love and marriage, especially when confronted with oft-quoted statistics like the 50 percent divorce rate, which may not even be correct. Even if those statistics are left out of the picture, we're still left with a culture that seems to embrace disposability and convenience rather than commitment: especially with the kind of commitment that has, at least in Christian denominations, vowed to remain "til death do you part."
The antidote to despair in this case isn't philosophy or social criticism. It's to simply look around you. There are plenty of examples of love that lasts all around us.

It's a gentle reminder that love can last, nay, that love does last for those who are willing to make sacrifices and remember to put themselves after their marriage and after their spouse.
